Biography

Kristen’s trio has been together since 2008 – with Carlo Tapia on bass & Dom Cabrera on drums. The trio is known for their unique takes & remakes of both the current pop hits & the soulful classics that we all know & love! With each musician accomplished in their own right, they enjoy taking risks & pushing boundaries making each show a unique experience.

This year, the trio are set for their most creative journey ever with their plans to record & release their debut album! Coming together with some of the best in the industry, they are currently busy fine tuning songs, rehearsing & gearing up for the intense recording period ahead… Stay tuned for sneak peaks into the process!

KRISTEN FLETCHER
Kristen has been playing piano since the tender age of six! After receiving classical training for 12 years, Kristen then went on to explore her passion for jazz, soul & pop music and has never looked back. It was during this period that Kristen began writing her own material & singing became a natural result of her desire to communicate with her audience. Now, Kristen performs as both a keyboardist & singer, having shared the stage with some of Australia’s finest including Damien Leith, Prinnie (The Voice) & Sister2Sister. Fronting her trio, Kristen brings together all her influences to create a new & exciting sound. The trio has been working around Sydney performing Kristen’s unique versions of current pop tunes & soulful classics. Her performances are something to be experienced – an exciting, largely improvised concoction of great songs! 2013 holds in store a lot of exciting things for Kristen & the boys, namely the recording & release of their debut originals project! After 10 + years of writing songs, the time has come to share the music & get it out there for whoever wants to enjoy it too! Her influences stem from a wide musical palette, including the likes of Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Ben Folds Five, Chick Corea & Norah Jones.

CARLO TAPIA
A passionate musician and a consummate professional, Carlo continues to be inspired to grow in his craft and “improve the groove” wherever he plays. From the moment Carlo picked up a bass guitar at age 15, he was hooked. First playing rock/grunge gigs in high school in his hometown Davao City, Philippines, he later developed a taste for funk, soul and jazz. In 1994 Carlo co-formed the band Freestyle. The cover band soon began writing their own originals and caught the eye of a major Philippine record label. They became an overnight success and soon proved to have staying power as well. He stayed with Freestyle for eleven years and within that time released 4 studio albums, 3 live albums, 2 best-of albums, toured the USA, Canada and Australia, and achieved accolades including MTV Asia/Philippines Best New Artist of 1999.

DOMINIC CABRERA
Dominic is one of Australia’s top up and coming drummers and is an in-demand session player in Sydney. He performs with several bands in the city’s best venues and has played for artists such as Guy Sebastian, Rob Mills, Stan Walker, Timomatic & The Tap Dogs. On top of his appearances in popular television shows and features such as X-Factor, The ARIA Awards & Young Talent Time, Dom maintains a regular teaching schedule and hosts popular collaborative jam sessions where celebrities, industry performers, music students & musicians of all levels are of constant attendance. He is currently endorsed by Sonor Drums, Soultone Cymbals and Silverfox sticks.
