“I’ve shared the DJ booth many times with Hannah and I can personally recommend her. Hannah has great technical and musical skills paired with bags of energy and personality that shines over the dance floor.” – Da Sunlounge (Myna Music, UK)
“A female House Head, passionate, the looks, rocking DJ sets that always make you dance and most of all the fantastic personality to go along with it…POW!!” – Davidson Ospina (Ospina Digital, NYC-Philly)
When top international artists give such a glowing endorsement of a DJ you know they’re talking about someone super special. So who are they talking about? None other than Sydney’s own HANNAH GIBBS.
Hannah is not your stereotypical female DJ. On the scene for 8 years now and dubbed Sydney’s Queen of House, Hannah is a true talent on the decks. Her energetic and aggressive mixing style coupled with her excellent selection has earned her guest spots as well as long term residencies at some of Sydney’s best bars and clubs: Spice, World Bar, Goldfish, Zeta Bar, Ivy, Marquee, S*A*S*H, Sounds on Sunday and The Argyle, just to name a few. A passion and interpretation of underground-deep to deeper jackin’ house has earned her huge respect from some of the industry’s elite, here and abroad.

Hannah returned to the USA in early 2011 for an 8 month stay in New York where she held residencies at Soup at Stay Lounge, Bounce NYC at LPR, Bar 13 and Porch playing with some of the biggest players in the NYC underground house scene. From her base in NYC, Hannah travelled the US spinning at hotspots in Baltimore, San Francisco, DC and Burning Man Festival in Nevada (three hours spinning vinyl in the middle of the Nevada desert sandstorm is something you don’t forget in a hurry, she says)
Another highlight was her 24th birthday when she played at WMC in Miami alongside Tommy Largo, Stacy Kidd, Hector Moralez and Oscar P. “To be able to spin with people whose records I’ve been buying since I first started DJing was a pretty surreal experience,” says Hannah.
By demand, Hannah returned to the states for WMC 2012 followed by an East Coast summer tour hitting hot spots in Chicago, Baltimore, DC and her beloved New York before returning home.
“Overseas I’ve played with some super talents,” says Hannah. “And how lucky can a girl be when she gets to play alongside such phenomenal talent here in Sydney like Joshua Heath, Fred Everything, Spinderella, Dimitri from Paris, Da Sunlounge, Kinky Movement and local legend Sonny Fodera.”
2012 saw Hannah expand on her talent and move in new and exciting directions, joining forces with long running group The Martini Club. Hannah has been working alongside the band and one on one with Sydney’s top vocalists in performance as well as in the studio. New direction has allowed her passion for all things music to spread to downtempo electronica and bass music, with her sights now set on production. In late 2012, Hannah was invited to join Melbourne agency ‘Jack in the Box’. Being flown down quarterly to headline top venues Club OneSixOne and Tramp, her fan base is rapidly growing as is her motivation to get some original music released before she heads to Europe later this year.
With her own sound, style and a burning desire to explore the diversity of down-tempo, funk and hip hop to pumping house music, Hannah makes sure her audience is in for a good night on the dance floor when she is manning the decks. And, of course, there’s that smile that everyone loves – from Sydney to New York!
