Edseven

Armed with a unique ear, deep collection and the skill for combining diverse sounds, Sydney's dj Edseven has built a solid reputation behind the decks over the last 8 years and now also consistantly brings that quality to his own production work.

Styles: Hip Hop, Soul, Dancehall, Jazz, Funk, Lounge, Broken Beat, Electronica, Deep House, Future Boogie.

Growing up in a family of hoarders, a father's 'serious' vinyl collection opened his ears to sounds from far and wide, Motown rarities, Eastern block jazz to marching band boxsets and beyond. This musical introduction formed the idea that great music might not always be found in the most likely places....

A collector of many styles, a typical edseven set could include anything from Hip Hop, Dancehall, Funk and Soul to Afrobeat, Breaks, Deep House, Broken beat and beyond... joining the dots between styles through deft mixing and solid track selection.

This musical range and the technical abilty to hold it all together has seen edseven support international acts Quantic, Krafty Kuts, Bassnectar, EL-P, Domu, Alice Russell, Dj Spooky, Shapeshifter, Mad Mats, Boca 45, DK and play events/venues including Good Vibrations, Chinese Laundry, Playground Weekender, Home, Melt, Tonic, Becks Bar, Elecrofringe, Vibes on a Summer Day, Gaelic Club, The Forum, Freedom Festival, Funktrust, Dust Tones, Hopscotchin', Bump, Future Classic, Frigid, Soulsonic, Headroom, Freshjams with radio spots on Ninja tune's Solid Steel show, Straight up radio, 2SER and Bondi fm.

It would be easy to describe Edseven as a “DJ’s DJ” but his ability to get the crowd going is what makes his sets so appealing and captures people’s attention.

After the critical success of his first release on Straightup Recordings and his remix work for artists including Cookin' on 3 Burners, Dj Regal, Onur Engin and Rephrase, edseven released a 6 track EP "Edseven (The Exposure Remixes)" worldwide November 2008 and futures release one the way.
